MAJOR ACTIVITIES

EDUCATION

To meet its objectives, the College has made efforts to provide continual education opportunities for trained nurses over the years by offering refresher courses, clinical courses and management, seminars, conferences, study days, and workshops. To extend the educational dimension, we also publish the Hong Kong Nursing Journal quarterly.

In promoting the concept of Primary Health Care (Health For All), the projects of "Health Ambassadors to the Elderly" and "Health Ambassadors to Youth" were launched to enhance the standard of nursing care for the Elderly and to promote basic health concepts and healthy lifestyle to young people in our community respectively.

ADVOCACY

In view of the need to monitor legislation related to nursing and health, we have expressed our opinion in position papers on the following issues:

• Human Organ Donation and Transplantation
• Towards Better Health
• Final report of the Committee on Scientifically Assisted Human Reproduction (SAHR)
• Introduction of New Support Personnel for Nurses
• Development of Nurse Specialists in Hong Kong
• Continuing Nursing Education
• Nursing Manpower
